Project 2
Community Cohesion North West Wales
Aims:

To create a series (6 to 10) of short videos for raising awareness of hate crime, challenging stereotypes and promoting discussion of the contribution of minorities to the community, under the title Experiencing Racism.

In the videos BME individuals will speak about their experience of racism. They will also demonstrate that despite harmful and wounding experiences they have succeeded in their own lives and contribute to Welsh society.

The videos will be available for training purposes. The availability of these videos, (especially those in Welsh or with Welsh subtitles) will be particularly important for schools in areas where visible minorities are not so evident.

Project 3
Aims:

The North Wales Regional Equality Network have been funded to work with schools in North Wales on a project to highlight the effects of hate crime and to stimulate thought and discussion on how both primary and secondary pupils can challenge and prevent discrimination and hate crime.

We intend to support teachers in their classrooms in developing a wider understanding of hate crime and discrimination.
  • To stimulate the students to think of ways they can stop hate crime ’meanness’ and with - the aid of their teachers - how to report hate crime.
  • We aim to achieve this through the use of a specifically commissioned poem and related activities, which will be embedded in a learning plan.
