The Resource Centre is part of the Connecting Communities project and work started in January 2005. It is still under development so this page is also “under construction”. We hope to be able to add some interesting information on the resources we have available soon.

The aim of this project is to create resources and expertise to allow school, youth organisation and community based organisations to run racism awareness activities.

The resource centre will collate and develop a wide range of multi media materials and learning resources to challenge racism. Materials that relate to the benefit and contribution of cultural diversity will help to promote a greater awareness of the harmful and hurtful effects of racist behaviour, whether consciously or unthinkingly committed.

We aim:

• To counter the negative perceptions of the BME population given out by so much of the media and internalised by so many people
• To inform people of the real facts about the BME population
• To ensure that multicultural, multiethnic and multi-faith work becomes a major part of the work programmes of the organisations involved
