Connecting Communities
This is a project funded by the Home Office through Denbighshire County Council. The project is designed to create the resources and expertise to allow schools, youth organisations and community based organisations within Denbighshire to run racism awareness activities.
It will allow people from local BME communities to interface with those Denbighshire based organisations, giving a positive image of themselves and their communities, explaining the harmful effects of racist behaviour, whether consciously or unthinkingly committed and encouraging joint and integrated working.
It will create an atmosphere wherein organisations and individuals will have greater understanding of the diversity of our society and enjoy it, whilst also having the confidence and knowledge to challenge prejudicial behaviour.
The project began in January 2005. The resource centre is under development and will be housed in Penmaenmawr in the NWREN Offices. The project worker, is also based in Penmaenmawr but works in the Rhyl area and other parts of Denbighshire with staff from Denbighshire County Council and local groups and organisations.
