North Wales Race Equality Network
About NWREN - What We Do

NWREN is committed to:

  • Encouraging the development of race equality work and better race relations in North Wales
  • Supporting initiatives to challenge racial discrimination against individuals and groups
  • Increasing awareness of the impact of racism and prejudice on people’s lives in North Wales
  • Promoting opportunities for race equality education and training and action planning among the public, voluntary and private sectors
  • Increasing the awareness of the ability of all racial groups to make a positive contribution to a successful and diverse community within North Wales.

The day to day work of the Network is supported by a small team based in Penmaenmawr and a growing network of members and volunteers.

Within the membership of NWREN, there exists a great deal of expertise and the Network aims to be a focal point for racial harmony within North Wales (six local authority areas) and to provide a forum to promote racial harmony and challenge racism.

NWREN is in an ideal position put forward BME perspectives that aim to inform and heighten awareness amongst Statutory Authorities and voluntary organisations.

Our bidding strategy is rapidly growing the sources of information and advice available and we are developing educational support for all those who struggle to raise awareness of the benefits and impacts of race and cultural diversity. For further details of our work please see our Projects page.
