Welcome to NWREN
Are you Black Minority Ethnic and Lesbian, Gay or Bisexual in Wales? We want to hear from you! Do you identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual (LGB) and are from a black, minority ethnic (BME) background? If so, we would like to hear from you about the good points and difficulties that come with having both identities, and what it’s like living in Wales. Toe in the Water is a small information gathering project based in North Wales, delivered by North Wales Race Equality Network (NWREN) in collaboration with Stonewall Cymru, which provides an opportunity for people who identify themselves both as black minority ethnic and lesbian, gay or bisexual to share and reflect on the positives and negative impacts around being an individual within both minority ‘communities’, with the possibility of developing a bigger project in the future.
The project is based in North Wales, but we would like to hear from LGB BME people across Wales. Personal details will be treated with strict confidentiality. You can get involved by doing one or more of the following:
We also plan to set up an informal focus group in November but that will be in North Wales, as we are restricted by funding. Jenny and Tue are looking forward to hearing from you. Jenny Porter This project is funded by Wales Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care (WEDHS) www.wedhs.org.uk
