North Wales Regional Equality Network
Established in 2000, the North Wales Regional Equality Network (NWREN) exists to challenge discrimination of all kinds, promote harmony and to work towards equality of opportunity for all minority groups in North Wales. As the region's leading equality charity, we have been at the forefront of social justice efforts for two decades.
North Wales Regional Equality Network (NWREN), a registered charity, has 19 years experience in delivering services to residents in North Wales. We aim our services to individuals who are marginalised and identified under the nine Protected Characteristics of The Equality Act 2010 (Age, Disability, Gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, Pregnancy and maternity, Race, Religion and belief, Sex, Sexual orientation). Our services are designed to address discrimination in day to day life and increase awareness of social responsibility within the local communities we serve. Given our foundation as a Race Equality Network our priority began with ethnic minorities and migrant workers, but this work has extended to the other Protected Characteristics, where we work alongside other agencies.
Our objective is to reach the hardest to reach individuals and populations through high quality supporting activities in research, policy/lobbying and training for community cohesion based in Penmaenmawr, Conwy, reaching the residents of Conwy, Denbighshire, Anglesey, Wrexham, Flintshire and Gwynedd local authorities through use of local drop-in centres where our services brought added value, enabling us to work in partnership with like-minded organisations throughout North Wales.
